Hi there!

My name is Max, and I’m the owner of this site. I was born in The Netherlands, however soon I, my parents and my brother and sister moved to the Middle East, where I spent a large part of my life. Out of all places in the world I would have never expected to end up in China but fortunately, I did.

About 1,5 year ago an opportunity arose for me to study in China for half a year. At first I doubted whether I wanted to go to China, so I kept looking for other universities/countries to study for a few months. But finally I decided to just do it, move to the other side of the world and end up in a totally different culture than that I was used to. Looking back on that decision, I think it was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.

In China, I studied in Beijing. During my period of studying here I was following courses which all were related to the topic of “Contemporary Chinese Business & Culture”. Besides that, I also took Mandarin Chinese classes.

During my studying period I found that I would be getting into financial trouble with the lifestyle I was living if I didn’t start working. So that was when I decided I should start teaching English on the side to make some money.

I was lucky to have some opportunities to take a break from studying and teaching, so I could see some more of China. I have travelled to many different places in China, varying from big metropolitan cities to small local villages. From deserts and grasslands to forests and panda packed parks.

After having finished my studying period, I decided I wanted to stay in China longer. Having had such an amazing time travelling, studying, teaching and living in China I didn’t want to leave that soon. So that is when I decided to start an internship here.

Having searched for a suitable company that was also willing to take me was quite a hassle, as I wasn’t familiar with the Chinese way of finding an internship. However, in the end I prevailed; I am currently following an internship within a well known multinational company, here in Beijing, China.

So why this website?

Before leaving my safe home back in the west I found that it was quite difficult to find practical and comprehensible information about different aspects in China. During my stay here I have learnt many things about how everything works in China and also, I have acquired many contacts in the Chinese business/education/and travel industry. This is why I decided to set up this website, to inform people just like me what to expect, what to do, what NOT to do, how to do certain important things and things to keep in account.

I hope you’ll find what you need on MovetoChinainfo.com, if you don’t please let me know and I’ll try my best to put it on here as soon as possible!

P.S. Since most of my experiences in China have been in Beijing, you’ll find that most of the information is based on Beijing practices. If I find that some of the information on here greatly differs per location in China I’ll make sure to mention it!
