China FirewallSomething you might already know about is that the Chinese internet is heavily guarded by firewalls. In China the firewalls are often known as ‘the great firewall’ (referring to China’s great wall). Is it difficult to access certain websites in China? And how fast is the internet in China? Do I need a VPN in China? You’ll find all those questions answered here.

Accessing internet in China, how should you go about setting up your internet? There are always tons (and I really mean tons) of internet cafe’s, bar’s and shops available all throughout China. You pay a certain amount of RMB per hour and you get access to internet. You’ll likely be sharing the place with a few dozen gamers, as they tend to flock to the internet cafes in China. It’s actually quite a fun sight, walking into an internet cafe and seeing nearly all computers occupied with people playing games. But yes, an internet cafe is a possibility.

I can imagine that you would rather access internet from home though. So how does that work? You’ll be able to buy a modem at any internet specialty store. Once you’ve bought a modem you need to buy a package for your internet, you can buy a certain amount of bandwidth. The price varies per the amount of bandwidth.
